Research Projects

Transforming Communities. Closing Divides. At ISITI, our research isn’t just theoretical — it’s about bringing sustainable innovation to remote and indigenous communities. From green-powered telecentres to micro-credential education and language preservation, we build together, with purpose.

Registered Research Projects in ISITI

At ISITI, our research projects are rooted in real needs and real communities. I work alongside a diverse team of researchers from multiple UNIMAS faculties — spanning social sciences, ICT, engineering, and beyond — to develop solutions that make a meaningful difference, especially for Malaysia’s remote and indigenous communities. Our collective work focuses on areas such as bridging the digital divide, e-health, e-learning, green technology, indigenous knowledge preservation, socio-economic development, and the sustainability of rural telecentres.

Many of our flagship projects reflect this commitment. I am involved in initiatives like Social Innovation for Sarawak’s Hinterland, MAXIS Connected Village, and Digitalising and Preserving Oro — a unique effort to document and protect the secret signage language used by the Penan nomadic community. We also contribute to regional education through programs like MicroCASA, which develops micro-credential learning pathways across Southeast Asian universities. In every project, I work closely with communities, co-designing and implementing technology-driven interventions that are sustainable, culturally respectful, and grounded in real-world impact.
